The Master File and File Management
-
In any case….the master file should be preserved as the original file and “repurposed” for other uses
-
No more filing negatives or slides in hanging files (or a shoe box…)
-
Assume that you will need bigger and more disk drives and a good CD/DVD burner.
-
Edit/delete rigorously…in the camera and at the computer
-
Develop a personal work flow and stick with it
-
Incorporate a consistent filing/folder system in your work flow
-
Use a filing system that works from your photo software and regular file browsers
-
It’s no good if you can’t retrieve the photos in the future
-
And it’s no good if it’s vulnerable to being lost to a bad hard drive! So make back-ups and archive disks
-
Tim Grey, Rob Sheppard and others have written books or chapters in books on workflow.
-
My workflow….camera, Adobe photo downloader, Adobe Bridge and sometimes Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, sometimes Panorama Maker Pro
