White-tailed Deer, Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. These deer were very patiently grooming each other. They seemed to be concentrating on the task of tick removal. They would carefully bite the skin in the area of the tick and then nip the tick with their front teeth. I wonder if they practice on themselves before grooming others? |
